Sources, standards, and limits
How Highland Park Civic Record makes city meetings easier to follow.
Informative, not partisan
We prioritize public-interest decisions, costs, housing, infrastructure, public services, and changes residents can act on. Headlines describe the documented event. Proposals, staff recommendations, debate, deferrals, and adopted actions are labeled separately. We do not endorse candidates or infer motives.
Follow the evidence
Articles and issue timelines link to the specific public sources used: recordings at relevant timestamps, and agenda packets or minutes with document titles and page references when available. Packets describe proposals and staff recommendations; adopted minutes document actions. A packet is not evidence of adoption. The archive contains 38 located recordings from October 24, 2025 through October 24, 2026. Text comes from YouTube automatic captions, which can mishear names, amounts, motions, and vote counts. It is not audio-verified or certified.

What the archive does not prove
The official agenda portal denied access during collection. We cannot certify coverage of unrecorded special meetings or cancellation notices. Missing recordings do not imply cancellation. Recess and closed-session intervals are not reconstructed. October 13’s resumed Committee session is preserved in its Council recording and cross-referenced, not counted as another meeting.
People, not guesses
Verified speaker excerpts require explicit source support. Search results show name mentions, not automatic identification of who is speaking. We do not profile residents or extract contact details. Unnecessary personal information is not promoted into stories.
AI-assisted reporting
This project uses AI to organize public records and draft neutral summaries. It is not an official municipal website or a claim of independent on-the-ground reporting. Check linked primary sources before relying on consequential details.
Updates and corrections
New source material is checked before publication. Material corrections should explain what changed and retain earlier publication records. Read the publication log. Questions about city business should go through the city’s official channels.
