Permanent-memorial planning and possible short-term-rental policy changes occupied the Committee.
What was discussed
The memorial design discussion considered meaning, tone, accessibility and the historic Rose Garden setting. Members explored how creative design and preservation requirements could coexist rather than selecting a finished design. They agreed to seek a special joint discussion with the Historic Preservation Commission.
Staff reviewed short-term rentals as an accessory use of a primary residence, then sought direction on stronger documentation, rental-activity data, licensing and possible geographic limits. Members differed over some restrictions but supported additional research and a return discussion; no new rental prohibition or ordinance was adopted.
