Staff presented a request to refer a building-height variation at 1120 Crofton Avenue North to the Zoning Board of Appeals. The proposal concerns replacing an existing golf-club addition with a larger, taller addition.
Staff stressed that the council’s decision concerned whether and how the zoning board should consider the request, rather than deciding the variation itself. Council members asked about the relationship to neighboring homes and setbacks.
The council voted six to zero to send the matter to the Zoning Board of Appeals for final determination.
The staff report specifies the relief being sought for Bob O’Link Golf Club’s clubhouse addition: 35 feet 7½ inches above average grade, compared with the R4 district’s 32-foot limit, a difference of 3 feet 7½ inches. The applicant proposed replacing an older addition with a design closer to the original clubhouse. The council’s referral determined the review route, not whether the height variation should be granted.
The October 13 packet says the applicant had, at its own risk, noticed a November 5 Zoning Board of Appeals hearing before the referral decision. That is the hearing date reported in the packet, not independent confirmation that a later hearing occurred or that the addition was approved.
